A day, not merely as a student but within the hallowed precincts of the Great Ife,
the land of culture, the Orisun Imo,
the Empire of beauties that set souls spellbound.
Amongst the throng of seekers on the promising path of purpose,
I headed for the destination unknown, just like the sheep without a shepherd.
A lost sojourner in the strange land, about my way I enquired.
After much wanderings like a snake without a head,
guidance unfolded, lit my way. There, I stood in awe
of the ancient walls whose beauties spoke of time and skills.
A first timer, fear stroke my heart, for the call to a venue
__outside my bound __ beat my eardrums. I groped for the route.
Still, in the blazing daylight, my opened eyes are blind for the way to take.
My feet (at last) kissed the right route, accompanied the fellow feet
that had raped the path. I trod on the heels of the leading counterparts,
sunbaked for the weariness of transitions from halls to halls.
The toothsome pastries,the refreshments to soothe my soul.
There, voices echoed,of diverse content.
"Fresher as e dey hot" ; the tune resonated...
Back and forth I went,amidst the long day of lectures
roaming about on the grounds of "OGBAFEMI" as we named it.
Feeding my eyes as I rambled in the realm,I grasped the truth!
The realm, not only a haven of knowledge;
The oven of learning where scholars are baked;
The battlefield of battles of will, full of horrors.
After becoming part of the silence, I stood, contented of my choice; my fate.
The fading tune of the aero critters drew my gaze to the nature
beneath the shade of "OGBAFEMI" when the day was putting on the faded cloth.
Amidst the bit of horrors, I grasped the Truth.
Boarded the Town_ gboro afterwards and said to my mind:
The realm of knowledge, culture and nature; the Great Ife, the Greatest of all!
