  • My intro

    Name : Lungi Christian Msusa but writing as Lungi Shigo Msusa.

    Born 25 November 1967 in Eastern Cape Province, South Africa, in a town called East London. Moved to Mdantsana township just outside East London when he was still very young to start his first primary school at Sophakama Primary school there. With his parents he left Mdantsana to stay in Butterworth (Gcuwa), a small town 100 kilometers away.

    In Butterworth he went on to do his tertiary education in Eastern Cape Technikon doing Civil engineering. Couldn't finish his diploma in Civil engineering because of financial barriers but went on to work for an engineering firm as a student technician in Mthatha 200 kilometers away from East London but still in the Eastern Cape Province.

    He never stopped working after that and by then he was nicknamed Shigo for his love of football (soccer). Nickmaned after his favorite soccer player that name stuck with him because of his skills in soccer, he adopted it and introduced it into his writing.

    His love for writing started after he stopped working in 2019 to pursue writing poetry and small stories. His love for poetry was developed by his love for reading literature, any kind of Literature, from novels to autobiographies and poetry but poetry took over his life, now all his love is to develop his poetic skills.

    He's been published in few anthologies and online publications. Many of his work are on Kavita's page, web magazine link, www.kabitarpata.com. Published also on willwash.wordpress.com, his other publications are on Barath Vision, link www.barathvision.info, noblepoetry.com and kabbokotha.com
    His participation on online poetry groups has won him many poet of the week accolades. He also manage his own poetry online group called Poems & Stories.
    He's also investing his time into writing his solo poetry book one day, he's collecting his poetry writing on a Facebook page named Bashante, link, https://www.facebook.com/poemsbyshigo/ He's hoping one day his quest for a publisher would be answered.

    He's back home in East London now living with his family.

    Man, rivers and lilies

    A river so lily-livered
    Lilies of the valley dead
    What happened to lilies, you'd ask
    Litter louts humans the reason
    Polluted rivers no pores to breathe life

    Literature has taught man nothing
    We build prisons and throw away the keys and yawn then boredom rules the heart of the idler while production unit is polluting our rivers killing lilies of the valley

    Rivers are not so lily white anymore
    Mercury rising, climate changing
    a river is dried of its existence
    The source man-made again
    And rain is missing an angel

    Mother nature is weeping, men wake up
    Production has turned a dark cloud
    Rivers are not flowing no more, there are skeletons of river patches everywhere
    Even animals are dying of toxic drinks

    Miss the time when rain had its season
    Summers in the country were about rivers, dams and bikini tops girls vacationing
    Now rivers are no more full of fishes
    Earth is really missing a manly angel

    Dear old tree

    Jeez what can l say to you;
    I've got no words
    Can I say I'm sorry;
    That won't be enough
    I was there, I saw it all
    I still see it every day
    And I can't say nothing
    I'm just part of the problem

    I saw your tears burning in smoke
    I saw you falling in pain of smoke
    Burning, burning to tomorrow's fresh air
    Until your tears were dying flames
    We didn't cry with you, why would we;
    We rejoiced in the name of progress
    We rejoiced in the name of civilization

    Now I'm the only one left to tell the tale
    Now your trunk is charred, I'm ashame
    You breathing through the wounds
    You survived because it was a mistake
    You were caught in the cross fire
    It was the case of mistaken identity
    Progress was secured on the other side
    Our chase for currency is achieved for now

    Mistaken identity my foot, excuse my English, I'm angry at myself for doing zilch
    It's painful I know cause you're still alive, your roots are thinking you can grow again
    I can see the new branches trying again
    But you'll never be the same again because of my sins and their greed chasing economy and growth

    That's funny because you'll never know growth again, not to your original strength
    We maimed you and your offsprings
    All I can say is I'm sorry, I know sorry is not enough, I'm still driving the bulldozer
    My kids are fed, what about yours;
    Burned to dust and I bulldozed them to the recycling bin to make sawdust
    I'm sorry again, I apologise

    Victory is green now

    Time in an hourglass
    As beautiful things pass
    They're slowly falling to grave
    Leaving so much one can save

    Ozone layer is dying on our watch
    Our survival, a gaseous death trap
    Industrial revolution, manmade suicide
    Layer by layer we chasing doomsday

    Fourth industrial revolution when, who;
    Global warming, who's really responsible;
    Oxygen is getting less and less, why;
    Green gas emulsion, decades away why;

    Inquisitive child who's answering you;
    Greedy skull who's money is it anyway;
    Tell me why your oxygen gas tanks visible;
    Ventilated underground hideouts why;

    Save the children wings of existence
    Greedy skull has ate the apple of sin
    Digging wealthy resources started a never ending dark revolution, victory is green now
