    A hammock
    *
    Like a hammock I lay
    My body for everyone
To be free and be rooted

    They all find me welcoming
As the big brother I'm their pillar
of strength, taking care of home

    Big brother is watching
As an African man I'm blessed
I'm the heir to the family home

    As a hammock I'm welcoming
The house is still a home for everyone
    Siblings proudly gather every Christmas

    Like a hammock I lay
    My body for everyone
    To feel a homely welcome

It's important as an African to keep roots
Where you coming from doesn't define you but you are proud to talk roots

I'm from the Eastern Cape Province
My roots are defined by the four walls
That have been there for ages

The family's burial site In the kept well
Like a hammock I lay my body
For every siblings to be proud of roots

    Like a hammock, I'm welcoming
I lay my body for siblings to mind roots
Like the old portraits in a house I comfort
