  • UNATTAINABLE EDEN

When we were very young and tender, when the unattainable Eden secretly came to us, and love rode on our elastic spines in the immortal fulfilment of the Universe, and we died as two bodies, like heroic lovers existing for each other in the holy heat of the moment. To each other's delight-quenching budding lips we asserted, "I love you" - And entwined in each other, like a creeping, twisting amber, like a lava-flame, redeeming joy also breathed out voices of prayer.

And yet, tempted to sin, a solemn night Brought to two in love's sinful days Eighty and absolution in hellish days. The malleable plasticine of our bodies was instinctively joined. Each of us became an integral part of the other, and the secret happiness that existed for each other: the fearful anxiety in us became a disembodied sentinel: "You will never leave me, will you?! I need you!

Your lily-headed head, like a giving petal unfolding itself, leaned silently on my breast. Thou didst drive the cross-section of thy collarbones into the bushy Enkidu forest of my breast, and already thou didst shine with mischief, and tremble at the way my pump-heart thundered with more and more agitated anxiety.

Our hot lips, like silent accomplices, were as fond of each other. Already we were showing more of ourselves in the fusion of intoxication; in each other's calculated, artful movements, offering steadily new treasures of gift-being. In the conquest, and in the conquering, Purpose and Will became one in us, like air or oxygen!

All-pervading, secret altar, mystic delight, luscious fruit, paradise in agony, and a relentless pillory Love - thy human destiny lurking in our heels unceasingly. You were a safe refuge for us, like our mother's sweet, sacred lap, but also the daily certainty that we created a new life from ourselves, divided and divided by our instinct-titsa!
