  • A SOLDIER’S VICTORY BY ANTHONY CHARLES BLAKE

    Mission of war

    Deterioration saw

The thought of becoming a Casualty

    Prayed hard in reality

Bombs and heavy ammunition that surrounded me

    Ashes of destruction

    Comrades either wounded or dead

I had to be strong in mind and heart

It seemed assurance was distance off

I was thinking will I survive?

There are many war stories to tell

Victory close sounding like a bell

    I truly was alive

A Soldier never knows what to expect

    War can have that effect

A Soldier can find themselves in all kinds of predicaments

Maneuvering in kinds of weather elements

    But I can confer

Because of war, my mind can get a blur

    This Soldier made it out

Numerous wounds making it hard to move about

    Survival

    War story never forgotten

    Chosen being the example

    Just that simple

Tomorrow that could have been wasn’t

    Here today

A determined soldier in every way

    Giving thanks

    A soldier now and always

Sunrise and Sunset that will follow me throughout my days and nights

    Everlasting wonder

The memory that goes far beyond yonder

I will always hear in my head “Onward”

    Proud of you Solder
