    Beauty

    Beauty surrounds us
you see it in every grain of sand
    and every blade of grass
you see it in the leaves that fall,
and the twinkling of the stars,
    the colours of sunrise and
as day fades you see it at sunset

you can hear it in birdsong
with the dawn chorus waking the world
you can even find it in the words
    of your favourite song and
feel it in the whisper of breath
across your skin from the one you love

look in the mirror, strip away that
mask you wear and see it
    in your own eyes
it’s there in your children , your family
you can even see it in the actions
of others if you’re willing to look

    Beauty is in everyone
we just need to see beneath the disguise
    that they show the world
beauty isn’t always about the way things look
or sound it’s there in our love , in our actions
    and the way we ...

    Forever

It was supposed to be everlasting
I shared with you my soul
    and all that I was
I would have loved you forever
    but our passion was just
    a figment of my imagination
    there was only the dark
and forever meant only a second
that was all it took, then
all that was left was my bleeding soul
when I turned and said goodbye

    Summer Evenings

After the heat of the day has faded
    as dusk starts to settle
pull up a chair and grab a glass
sit and listen to the world around you
the sound of birds singing, people talking
children laughing, dogs barking and music playing

As the daylight starts to disappear
dusk deepens, the colours of day change
from the turquoise sky and fluffy clouds of a warm day
to the rich orange and reds of a sunset
then the gorgeous purples and dark blues
finally to almost black with bright twinkling stars

The air cools a light breeze whispers across your warm skin
    making you shiver in delight
the smell of a barbecue drift’s on the air
    making your mouth water
the floral perfume of a nearby flower
and the scent of freshly cut grass
    tickle your senses

    Relax and enjoy
    the warm summer evening

    Misunderstanding

Your irritation, somehow gave me satisfaction
as I poked and prodded you
your fury intensified at my glee
    happiness turned to disgust
a bitter taste on my tongue

our discomfort filled us with sorrow
    and passion gave no joy
    as the silence surrounded us
we watched each other with wary eyes
mistrust a sourness in the air

    Sorry came from nowhere
lighting up that glint in your eyes
    a smile started then
it tugged sharply at your lips
    as you caught my playfulness

your laugh a melody in the air
    eyes lit up with delight
    your face glowing with happiness
    at last, misunderstanding flown
    clearing minds and freeing hearts

    Storm Clouds

    Storm Clouds

    As the storm clouds gather
    we walk the lonely shore
    trudging along, dragging our feet
    inches apart, feeling much more
I stumble and you reach out to catch me
but quickly draw away when I steady myself
the gulf ever widening between us
    glancing around the darkening landscape
    gloomy and dangerous thoughts
try to take over my melancholic mind
matching the scene in front of my eyes,
a sudden gust of wind caught me unaware
launching my hat high in the air
I watched it twist and turn
flying free like a beautiful bird
    moving skyward, then falling
downward like a pretty coloured feather
    a giggle caught me unaware
    followed by a chuckle
    as the wind let go
and dumped it out at sea
    then it began to rain
    not a gentle trickle,
    or a light sprinkle
    but a deluge, a torrent,
    as the clouds burst
    an...

    One Last Hope

May the night come upon us
    in a minute, a flash
I beg for forgiveness , for understanding
    tear stained, sordid and bleak
why did it come to this?

    forgiven and forgotten
    pain, anger and fear
    forever hidden deep inside
this will be the last you hear from me,
    One last hope
    it's all we have

    Clarity

    I sit and wonder why?
    I’m sat here and wondering.
    Why am I wondering why
    I’m sat here at all
    I’m looking for clarity
    To define it all
To give me an answer to
    A question
    I never knew I asked
    So where is the answer
    To my question
    At the bottom
    Of my coffee cup?
    Or At the end
    of my garden?
    I’ll never find an answer
As I never knew the question
    Then my mind becomes
    Clear and finally
    finds the clarity
    It needed
    To sit and wonder
    Why I was wondering why
    I was sat here wondering
    At all

    Indifference

You hear me but don’t listen
You look at me but don’t see me
You talk at me not to me
    I hear you and listen
    I look and I wait
    One day you’ll wonder
    Where has she gone
    Without realising what you did
    When you pushed me away
    With your ignorance
    And indifference
    My day is nearly here
I will be a person again
    I will find myself
I will rediscover that lost part of me
Then you’ll know and maybe you’ll
    finally listen
