  • THE TELEPHONE CALL....

It was just another evening, as I sat alone,

When a stranger called me on the telephone,

His voice was not familiar, as he began to speak,

Whilst I listened to his wisdom, he made my legs go weak.

    ........

He told me of a future that offered little hope,

One of devastation, civilians would not cope,

Pollutions we had scattered were poisoning the earth,

Babies not surviving, beyond the point of birth.

    ..........

Cattle were not grazing, no life form in the sea,

Wheat was now a memory, along with bread for tea,

Farmers crops faced failure on these barren lands,

No water fit for drinking, nor to cleanse our hands.

    ..........

Forests of the Amazon, ones destroyed by greed

Robbing us of oxygen on which our organs feed,

Acid rains now fell, the ice caps had long gone,

Oceans, once divided, now appeared as one.

    ..........

As his call continued, the stranger said to me,

The earth has been mistreated, as you plainly see,

The future of mankind remains within your hands,

It is time to honour nature and all that she demands.....
