SOMEWHERE IN THE DISTANCE
An image is walking
Somewhere a legacy is stalking
There are cries with emotions expelling
But distance is truly far
It’s not a place driven by a car
But understanding being clarified
In fact, the image was of someone I once knew
I had to really put the pieces together through
It was a friend who died many years ago
But there is an although
Who was this image, and why did they appear?
I felt fear
I didn’t want that image near
But the image said, “Don’t you remember me?”
When the image got closely, I realized it was an old female friend from college being like a Grandmother too me
Her name plain and comforting being Lois Copeland
So that distance seemed far, but came near
The image was encouraging in continuing to preserver.
