  • HONORING DR. BETTY SHABAZZ WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH

    Dr. Betty Shabazz, Widom of Malcolm X

    I had the honor and pleasure to have Dr. Shabazz as a Health Class Professor at

    CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE in Brooklyn, New York

    Dr. Shabazz, a name known throughout the world

    Determined in all her pursuits

    Civil Rights was a commitment alongside her alive husband then Malcolm X

    Devotion in spirit in contributing change that followed Dr. Shabazz entire life

    Being Black and a woman, but was standing for all women regardless of race

    Achiever being a believer

    Leader within her own right

    Discrimination just made Dr. Shabazz more focused with a Civil Rights mission at hand

    Dr. Shabazz wanted to break the chains of stereotypes and accept a person among those being a women

    She observed in her eyes in what society was doing to all people of color

    Dr. Shabazz educated herself through higher learning and worked within the Health Care Industry as an RN then as she worked became a Tenure Professor at CUNY Medgar Evers College

    Because she was part of the Muhammad Faith didn’t make her commitment any easier, but more determined in the change movement of Civil Rights

    Her detours were like she was drowning in a sea, but always managed to surface to the top in what Dr. Shabazz was determined to accomplish

    Turmoil through the endless fires of her life

    Malcolm X heritage was her base of encouragement

    It didn’t matter he was deceased, the movement had to be pushed on

    Destiny had to be fulfilled
    Big step taking

    Risk in having strong courage
    The world had to understand

    Dr. Betty Shabazz travelled the globe in making her agenda clear for Civil Rights change

    She made numerous speeches in her own accord and her husband, Malcolm X

    In his absence

    Dr. Betty Shabazz proved to the world a women accomplish and establish being a women’s right in society

    Dr. Betty Shabazz Principles for all women across the globe

    She was even close to Coretta Scott King and teamed up together in letting Civil Rights continue to be known
