The Sojourner
Space.
The feeling of no gravity
Fills me with adrenaline.
Our captain calls us to our seats and we the crew race.
We approach the flourishing moon.
Landing always a dangerous action.
One wrong move and our ship is torn apart
We brace for impact as we aim for a sand dune.
Thankfully, the landing went well.
Our shuttle's door automatically slides open
And we step out
And the moon's beauty captures us like a spell.
We laugh as we roll down the sand
And stumble upon the moon's inhabitants laughing at us
Joining the chorus of laughter we make our way to their city.
Walking, we saw the moon far from bland
A strange creature approaches us
Feathery and scaly at the same time
It howls a strange cry at us and distracted us
Until our ride arrived, the city's bus
After thorough convincing, I finally pet the creature.
I believe it likes me.
Its been following me since the shuttle.
The curiosity of my new found pet is an amusing feature.
I've grown so attached to it
I think I'll take it home
We finally arrived a the city
As the splendor of the city hit
The tall gleaming structures
The dwarf-like inhabitants
Laughing at the antics of tourists
Giving them a taste of the moon's cultures
Walking through the city
We taste the alien cuisine
And realize our time to go
It is a great pity.
After being invited to several homes
With our stomachs full and faces sore from laughing
We began to head back to our shuttle
And with us, the night creatures roam.
Above us, strange glowing creatures fly.
Finally, we arrive at the shuttle.
We say farewell to the inhabitants
And promise to visit again. as we strived not to cry
As we board and launch off
I watch the beautiful moon fading away.
I look forward now to my next adventure.
I love this life despite it being rough
