LIFE OF A SMILE...IN A CARDBOARD BOX
A DREAM OF A SMILE....IN A
CARDBOARD BOX
He kept his dream in a
cardboard box,
To be opened once in
a while.
In it wrapped in innocence
Was a wide-eyed, small
boy's smile.
He'd forgotten how to
wear it,
What with life and choices
and all.
But he needed to look
every now and then;
Whenever he felt withdrawal.
He needed to look to make

THE FALLING TREES
The fallen trees just say; hello.
They grace the ground and never
feel low.
Their leaves of green are now all
dead and gone
Nature tells a story of how the
trees were born.
The bird's chorus is of tuneful
sound
They make joy of the world around.
The trees are dormant as the night
time sky
The trees tell their story you cannot
deny.
The earth goes round as in full circle
to the eye
The view is magic it makes me cry.
The sky and the moon await the hot
sun to rise
The earth still turns it is a surprise.
Cuddle thy tree and the leaves shall
fall
Listen to the birds you'll hear their
call.
Love thy nature as it's the tree of
the earth
And together they make a glorious
THE LADY
She left the web, she left
the loom,
She made three paces
through the room,
She saw the Ocado van
on Zoom,
And so she hurried down
the stair,
The shoes she had were
not a pair,
She hadn't time to brush
her hair.
She scurried on towards
the shore,
She hadn't been out there
before.
She saw just where the
barge could moor.
She scanned the things
that she had bought,
And then she had a
dreadful thought:
'It's not my order!' cried
a fraught
'I'll sack the lot -
I'll have them shot -
This must go back to
Camelot.'
The gap between the
quay and barge
Was widening, growing
ever large,
She toppled in and,
falling, cried -
'The curse is come!' and
promptly died.
OH PLAY THAT HOLY ORGAN
Oh play that organ louder
While all the oldies sing
They're looking to the
future -
The freedom it will bring.
Oh play that organ slowly,
Hear the ghosts of long
ago
Their shuffling feet on
flagstones,
Their pain; the tears that
flow.
Oh play that organ boldly,
And play it bolder still
For all who feel such
suffering
In this bitter winter chill.
Oh play the organ sweetly,
For the healers in our
midst
For all who keep on
fighting

FASHION GONE BONKERS
Oh! Ehat has happened
to fashions?
They're certainly not
bespoke.
They get sillier by the
season
Surely someone's having
a joke!
What with hems up to
the armpits
And boobs all on display,
And tattered jeans with
holes in,
What more is there to
say?
The models are so stick
thin
With faces looking glum,
They look so under-
nourished
Like they dare not eat
a crumb.
Just to be in photoshoots
They look so pale and
sallow,
They have to stand in
one place twice
Just to make a shadow.
What with false hair,
nails and lashes,
Perhaps we shouldn't be
so scorning,
But it makes you wonder,
really,
What they look like in
the morning.
And what on Earth is
on their feet?
Be it bovver boots or<...
THE NURSE
The exhausted nurse stood
by the bed as the patient
breathed her last,
She held the woman's hand
in hers, then heard the final
rasp.
She felt a hand upon her
back, then a whisper in her
ear:
'Come on my love, go take
a break, you're no longer
wanted here.'
Someone took her by the
arm as her tears began to
fall,
She mumbled she was
sorry; 'This isn't me at all.'
She now was in the
bathroom; in the mirror,
saw her face,
She ripped her tear-stained
mask away and said: 'I
hate this bloody place.'
She tried to stop the flood
of tears at the loss of a
dear friend,
A fellow nurse in training,
she was with her to the
end.
They'd met ...
A GOLDEN OLDIE
A GOLDEN OLDIE
Every day I watch the
news
To check up on the
virus,
But now I fear
I rarely hear
Some words that would
inspire us.
Our country's now in
lockdown,
Including shops and
schools,
So every day
We must obey
The various regs and
rules.
Because I'm in my 80s
I've been told I mustn't
roam,
They say it's best
I take a rest
And stay inside my home.
But when I must go shopping
I feel safe in empty stores,

COVID LANGUAGE
What ugly sounds they
seem to make,
Those words of the last
year.
'Pandemic', 'Lockdown',
'Test and Trace':
Not pretty words to hear.
We speak of 'furlough',
'PPE'
We rarely did before,
And now things must
be 'Covid-safe'
With gel and screens
and more.
A 'super-spreader's'
not someone
That you would choose
to meet:
You'd better 'social-
distance' if
He's unmasked' in
the street!
This new vocabulary
is like
A virus in itself -
Infecting all our constant
chat
About the global health.
A 'circuit-breaker' used
to be
Just electrician speak;...
DOCTOR OF THE HOUSE
DOCTOR OF THE HOUSE
Welcome M'sleur, sit yourself down,
Roll up your sleeve, get rid
of that frown
As for the rest awaiting in
line
Wait a bit longer and you
will be fine.
Seldom do you see
A vaccine given for free
Queuing in the church
hall
At half-past three.
Doctor of the house, doling
out his charm,
Have it in your buttock
or in your arm,
Just a little prick, might
be a bit sore,
Fifty people queuing by
the front door.
Glad to do you all a
favour,
Doesn't cost me to be
nice.
This is just the first one -
Please be sure to have
it twice.
Doctor of the house, nurses
full of charm,
Looking for a good vein
in my left arm.
Feeling right as rain, no
need to complain.
Church halls overcrowded
as it...
A WORLD OF COVID
A WORLD OF COVID
I'm a poet. I like writing
Of the loveliness of things.
But I've recently discovered
Ugliness, and what it brings.
I have found that, in a crisis,

There are those who have

Have made a mistake or

For the likes of you and

Let's assume that we've all

And our loved ones have it

What if, through our acts,
they're dying
While we party the night

I'm a mother and grand-

Great-grandmother and

I would turn the mountains

To give those I love a life.

GOD'S EARTH AND LIFE
The sky is blue I can see it now
The colour is angelic I praise it
somehow.
The heaven in the sky is bright
and cheerful
But every day I always feel fearful.
I try to be happy as life is a gift
But on occasions it causes a rift.
I tend to pray to make me feel
better
Sometimes it works as so does
the weather.
God is the Holy Ghost and i pray
to him
In church on a Sunday to sing a
hymn.
The choir is small but tuneful I
hear
Sometimes it makes me shed a
tear.
But life is a gift i try to embrace
I try to smile and enjoy the human
race.
To bow my head i do in the church
of the Lord
As God made us all - he says; welcome
on board.

SUPERMARKET WOES
So would they panic buy
again?
'Twas not a case of it but
when
It started early yesterday
When toilet roll just rolled
away.
Then tinned tomatoes all
ran low,
I drew a blank in Tesco,
so
I turned to Waitrose in a
huff
But they were low on other
stuff.
For tins and bread I didn't
look far
I did not need to go to the
Spar.
And women fought like
seasoned mobsters
Over two remaining lobsters.
They'd put a limit on quails'
eggs,
Leaving me with just the
dregs.
Aldi was a different story,
Got some goodies, felt
the glory,
But there I saw a pair of
fools
Stocking up on paddling
pools.

The streets aren't paved
with gold, as this I was
surely told,
They are lonely places
and you play your aces,
your life is now on hold.
You find yourself down
and out, and you just
want to shout,
Your life has no meaning,
but you are still dreaming,
other people always spout.
The sun comes up on
another boring day, you

FINDING TRUE LOVE
When you have a loved
one you feel so brand
new.
You are in love - that is
so very true,
You tell each other every
day
You love each other in
your own special way.
You were childhood
sweethearts,
That is where it starts.
The love you share from
child to adult
Is part of life which is
a cult.
Your feelings are for
one another -
Are blessed by both -
your father and your
mother.
All through your life
and beyond -
Even to heaven - and
paradise is found.
So love each other as
you should,
That is a message from
our true lord.
The love in our soul - is
for all mankind -
As love and happiness
is ours to find.

THE SAD LITTLE STAR
The little star in the sky,
'Why do you so visibly
cry?'
'I am all alone and very
sad,
I miss my mother and
my dad.'
The star wasn't shining
like it should
The sky was darker as
the darkened wood.
The Earth was turning
round as normal
But the little star was
feeling abnormal.
The moon was concerned
this was rare,
The sun also thought;
'let's show we all do care.'
So the moon gave the
star a guiding light,
As the sun was sleeping -
wow what a sight.
The sun then woke up
and the moon was tired
Both of them thought
they'd retired!
They showed the light
to shine afar
And this made magic -
for that little sa...

The islands is friendly, I

They welcome everyone -
from me and you.
The ocean is blue - the

The people will say;

...THE MAGIC BOOK PAGES
The mind is like an open book - you
sometimes want to close
Page after page is telling a story -
but what of....no body knows.
The pages tell a story and your mind
can create some glory
And if you do get stuck - there's always
Jackanory!
The mind can be stimulated as the
eyes open wide with glee
And you can also make a story up -
and it's all for free.
The excitement is overwhelming as
you turn page by page
And can enjoy the whole book - no
matter what your age.
The pages can see a secret and they
know a troubled mind
You can even enjoy the pages - even
if you're blind.
You see the pages are also magic as
they can also talk to you
That is so special the magic is so true.

THE WATERFALL OF LIFE
(I dedicate my poem to all
true believers. May God truly
bless you. Amen.)
The waterfall of life,
shall quench the
thirst, which is rife,
For the thirst of the
mind does say;
"drink and thou shall
save a life?"
The water is pure -
and so sweet,
It tastes so good -
it really is neat.
The father, our God,
has blessed the water -
Just for us - as we
now drink, as we
oughta!
In desperation, the
body does wander,
But forsaking the lord,
is only in slumber?
We all need guidance -
and a shoulder for
support,
That shoulder, I feel,
is the support, I do
sought?
To cleanse the soul,
is all I wish,
Then take a taste, of
that glorious dish!
The dish of food -

A BRIGHTER TOMORROW

that's a fact
The rich get richer
they never use any

The homeless are
begging - but some

They sit outside the

always on the take.
The Government has
tried to help us
But some people do
cause a lot of fuss.
They stay at home
working hard on the

Covid-19 has changed
our lives - that is very

Then we walk in to a

looking like a crook!
Is there light at the
end of this dismal

The magic of the stars
is magic to the eyes
I can see them all day

surprise.
The stars gather round
on proud display,
And to see this magical
sight we do not need to
pay.
The darkest of the night
is a blessing for all to
see,
You just look on up at
the sky - believe me - it
is free.
The sky is inviting me
to go and have a tour
To see the wondrous
stars on parade - they
ooze lots of amour.
God has made a special
home somewhere in
the sky
I would dearly love to
see it - of this I cannot
deny.
Even the angels are

TO ESCAPE MENTAL ILLNESS
You can run and hide
and admire the calm
sea tide
You can have a friend
by your side
But you cannot get
away
For mental illness is
out to cause you mass
dismay.
You feel so worthless
as you lose interest
to live
So you now go on a
mission - your enemies
you forgive.
You feel low and isolated
and you wish to end
your life
Because mental illness
is causing you so much
strife.
There is no hope as
you just want to be set
free
So you plan your exit
as soon as you've had
your tea.
Your feelings are at
rock bottom - you only
want to get away
You care nothing of
your friends and family -
MY BROKEN HEART
You leave me with a broken heart
You said we would never part.
Our love was solid and so new
I loved you more each day that is
true.
So my heart is broken for now,
but it will mend
And I promise myself I won't go
round the bend.
My life is worthless that is so
true
Because the love of my life is
always you.
Every day my heart sinks so low
and it is broken
But one day a new love and my
heart will be awoken.
God shall help me that's for sure
As God's love is the loving cure.
My darling, my life, you are now
my wife
Never again will I suffer any strife.
My heart is beating as your love
has rekindled my love
...THE "POLITICAL" RAINBOW
The colourful rainbow is
a beautiful sight,
But it has been hijacked
by the LGBT and it gives
us all a fright.
The colourful rainbow
used to be in the sky, so
high,
But now it's used for
propaganda - it really
makes one cry.
The LGBT are out there -
that we all do know
But the more they promote
their propaganda - it makes
us all feel low.
The sky where it rightfully
belongs now is a distant
memory,
But the rainbow is used
in a political way - and thus
creates more bigotry!

MY DARLING....I LOVE YOU
MY DARLING...I DO LOVE YOU
The sound of your cry,
Does ask the reason
why,
Your love is my life -
without you I would
die.
So please stay with
me - to live as one -
we will try.
My darling I miss you,
that is so true,
You make me feel so
good - and truly brand

Our lives are to be

will be true,
If God is my witness - I
love you, truly I do.

FORSAKEN FOR LOVE
Forsaken only to you
My love for you is true.
Blessed is the soul of
love
It comes as a gift from
above.
Cross your heart as
you pray
And you'll never again
feel dismay.
Forgive those who hurt
us so
For they always enjoy
a fuss as we feel low.
To feel your beating
heart so loud
You feel the nerves of
the shouting crowd.
The Holy Ghost is a
blessed soul of life,
As you betrove your
love to your loving
wife.
God Bless thy honour
and all on Earth.
As we all will feel a
new rebirth.
The love is there within
your heart
And tomorrow shall
bring a whole new start.
